Nursery facilities

Baby Room

Our babies are looked after by caring and dedicated staff in two bright spacious rooms with large windows and high ceilings. There is a separate sleep room, with cots, sinks and changing facilities and a play area.

We have lots of toys and activities designed to stimulate babies as well as regularly changing displays. Most of these are at floor level ensuring that our babies have plenty of opportunity to explore and develop all their senses in a safe and secure environment. All the babys meals are made by fresh ingredients and cooked on site by our own chef.

Toddler Room

Our toddler room is kitted out with toddlers in mind. It is combined with the highest standard of furnishings and resources.  All the equipment bought is designed to stimulate the children intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially. Activities include sand and water play, puzzles, painting, music and movement, sport, stories and games.

All the meals are served at communal tables, where the children have hot nutritious meals with their friends and they eat in a relaxed but structured social environment which creates plenty of positive associations ( important for growing minds and bodies).  Most toddlers have a sleep or quiet time after lunch.

Preschool Room

Our preschool room is a spacious room made up of children from 3- 5 yrs. It has a lot of natural light and continual access to the outside ‘messy play’ area. The day is carefully structured to show that the curriculum is still being covered but play is still the best vehicle for learning at this age. All this fun can be hard work, so those that need it have a short sleep after lunch and the others engage with their friends at some table play.

There is also a large home for role play  which is fun and important for the devlopment of imagination.

All the children will play in the dedicated lawned area outside every day – weather permitting.

Outdoors

The outdoor lawned area provides the space to explore  and the equipment to stimulate sensory motor skills, encourage development and most of all give the children fun !

Toilets

Children have their own ‘childfriendly’  toilets.

Church

The nursery has strong links with the chuch of St John’s  incorporating a calendar of events and activities.

Christmas time means ‘Santas Grotto’s’ and ‘Nativity Plays’ in the church

Easter time means ‘Easter Egg painting’ , Easter Egg Hunts and ‘Festive Plays’

Harvest time will also be partnered with the Church giving an awareness of the Christian  calendar to the children in conjunction with celebrating all major events of the main faiths of the world.

Green Issues

The Nursery has strong green values and children will be encouraged to recycle from an early age.

Food will be made from locally sourced ingredients where possible, home cooked and fresh.

Fresh filtered water will always be available for the children.

A compost bin will be placed in the outside area for kitchen waste.

Excess rainwater will be collected in a child safe water butt. The water will be used to quench the thirst of our own Nursery herb and vegetable patches!
